Council accepts Winterset Villas Phase 1 infrastructure and sets subdivision traffic controls

The Warrensburg City Council unanimously approved an ordinance accepting sanitary sewer, street and stormwater improvements constructed in Winterset Villas Phase 1 and adopted related traffic controls for the subdivision.

Project manager Jason McCarty told the council staff had addressed prior issues with storm drainage, sanitary sewer, curb and sidewalk work and that city staff approved the corrections. Councilmembers voted yes to accept the improvements, which moves the new public infrastructure into the city's maintenance responsibility.

On a companion ordinance, the council established traffic control in Winterset Villas Phase 1. The traffic commission recommended a 25 mph speed limit within the subdivision, no parking on one side of the new streets, and stop signs at Park & Enterprise, Park & Pebble Creek and at Winterset Drive where it intersects Park Avenue. The traffic ordinance passed unanimously.

During discussion councilmembers clarified that the development (named Winterset Villas) will include duplexes; the name did not imply a single-family 'villa' housing type. McCarty noted that many drive entrances are expected to connect to future roads rather than directly onto the subdivision collector; stop signs and a center left-turn lane were cited as design features to manage access.
