Kitsap County proclaims May 18–24, 2025 as National Public Works Week

The Kitsap County Board of Commissioners on May 12 voted to proclaim the week of May 18, 2025, as National Public Works Week in Kitsap County.
Kim Plager, communications manager for Kitsap County Public Works, presented a proclamation noting that public works employees support infrastructure and services critical to public health and quality of life, including sewers, roads, solid waste and stormwater management. Plager highlighted the department's 60-plus-year participation in National Public Works Week (the presentation used the phrase "60 fifth annual" in the proclamation text) and recognized staff who serve in professional organizations such as the American Public Works Association.
"Whereas the health, safety, and welfare of this community greatly depend on these facilities, programs, and services," Plager read as part of the proclamation language. Commissioners thanked Public Works staff for the work they do and moved and adopted the resolution.
The proclamation asks residents and civic organizations to learn about the issues involved in providing public works and to recognize the contributions of Kitsap County Public Works employees to the community's health, safety and quality of life.
