Town Center pickleball courts remain on hold pending stormwater and updated bids

Director Vinich explained the project’s status and a developer contribution: the developer will donate more than 2 acres and has paid for improvement plans, but the project’s stormwater design is tied to the Greenberg development. Vinich said, “If we didn't necessarily need stormwater, I would say we could get started as soon as you want.”
Committee members raised budget concerns. The project is currently budgeted at $500,000; past bids for a similar configuration at Community Park had been just under $400,000, Vinich said. Committee members asked staff to obtain updated, current bids for both Village Green (Phase 2) and the Town Center pickleball courts and to report back at the April meeting.
Council members also flagged competing priorities and unanticipated safety work elsewhere (Rock Hollow bridge repairs) that may draw on the same capital pool. On the dependency question, staff said plats and improvement plans for the Greenberg site were under review and that, if recorded soon, grading permits and stormwater measures would follow; the city’s review suggested the developer’s site plan could appear before city council in April.
Decision: The committee did not vote to authorize construction and instructed staff to pursue updated estimates for both Village Green Phase 2 and the pickleball courts and return with those figures in April so the committee can make an informed capital decision.
