Dreama Johnson, who introduced herself as president of the newly formed Byron Springs Community Realty Club, told the board the group has collected 285 signatures and wants the county’s help to set a date to move the project forward. “This presents a remarkable opportunity for us to improve our communication and take action,” Johnson said, adding the center would host activities, wellness programs and meetings for residents of all ages.
Anne Morgan, who identified herself as a Byron Springs Realty Club member and long‑time volunteer, said the club already has roughly 200 signatures on a related petition and is engaging schools and churches for events and youth volunteerism. Morgan described volunteering and youth engagement as tools to counter drug problems and to build community pride.
Chair Brian W. Vaughn acknowledged receipt of the petition and asked that Johnson give the petition to Supervisor Bayer (recorded in the meeting as the board member the petitioner should hand the paper to), who would deliver it to county staff for follow up. The public comment occurred during the allotted citizens’ time; no formal board action on the proposal was taken at the April 8 meeting.
