Crockett’s Cove resident urges supervisors to block industrial solar proposals

Crockett described historical features on and near his property — including a home dating to 1848, a Presbyterian church built in 1858 and battlefield sites from 1864 — and said industrial solar would “strip this valley of its natural resources, its innate beauty, its heritage, and its agricultural identity.” He asked supervisors to “act and to please stop industrial solar in Crockett’s Cove.”
Crockett referenced county protections he believes exist, saying his knowledge points to “amendment 2 to ordinance 90 92, which established the Crockett’s Cove Agricultural District through 02/1927.” He said he was uncertain whether current protections were sufficient and asked the board to intervene to preserve the valley’s landscape and historic character.
Supervisors did not take immediate formal action in response to the remarks; the comment was recorded in the minutes for the board’s consideration and possible future agenda follow-up.
