Board approves minutes, $768,125.73 in bills and personnel recommendations; moves to closed session

The Elkhorn Area School District Board of Education on Feb. 10 approved several routine items by voice or roll call vote, including meeting minutes, district bills and personnel recommendations, accepted donations and moved into a closed session to evaluate the district administrator.
The board approved the minutes of the Jan. 27, 2025 regular school session (motion moved and seconded; voice vote). The board then approved the district’s general and other fund bills covering check numbers 154268–154271 and 154278–154407, wire transfers 875–892 and ACH 533–575 in the combined amount of $768,125.73. The motion to approve bills was moved, seconded and carried by roll call; members present voted yes.
Roll-call vote recorded the following yes votes when the bill motion passed: Board member Andre; Board member Gayheart; Tara Gordon; Missus Ingersoll; Missus Cossack; Missus Rekley; Mister Scaram; Missus Corpus; and Mister Jaime Seravia.
The board also approved the personnel recommendation sheet (employment conditional upon background checks and district mandated drug screening), which included the appointment of Jamie McCann as a high-school softball assistant coach, by roll-call vote. The board accepted three school gifts: a $100 donation from David and Heather Pucharski for Westside Elementary books; $1,650 from the Sugar Creek Lutheran Church Endowment Committee to the district empowerment fund; and $1,000 to the parent connections summer program; and a donated set of two-way radios for the high school track team. The board voted to accept the gifts.
The board approved parking-lot use requests for community organizations and legacy fundraisers. Trustees noted the district does not currently charge an external fee for many of the longstanding, internal organizations that operate parking for county events; several board members described the revenue as important fundraising for groups such as the Kiwanis Club and the Booster Club.
Finally, the board voted to adjourn into a closed session under Wisconsin Statute 19.85(1)(c) to evaluate the job performance of the district administrator; the board stated it would not reconvene in open session.

No additional formal actions were taken in open session after the closed-session motion; board members proceeded to the closed session as announced.
