City staff presented bill 3636 to authorize a contract with Flock Group Inc. for additional automated license-plate reader cameras to be placed in Missouri Department of Transportation rights-of-way; aldermen held the bill over for a future meeting.
The Board of Aldermen reviewed bill 3636, a proposed contract with Flock Group Incorporated to purchase and operate additional Flock safety camera technology to be sited in MoDOT rights-of-way entering the city.
Captain Derek Hill described the request as part of an expansion of technology the department uses to develop leads and investigate crimes. "It is a tool that can't really be matched as far as, the leads that it provides," Hill said. He told aldermen the contract under consideration covers six cameras to be placed in MoDOT right-of-way; three additional cameras will be sited on other rights-of-way under a separate contract.
Hill said officers across patrol and investigations use the Flock system daily and that it helps narrow searches for vehicles and suspects. There was no public comment for or against the bill during the meeting. After board remarks, aldermen did not adopt the ordinance; bill 3636 was held over to a future meeting.
