They told trustees the council encourages peer mentoring, increases student accountability and helps underclassmen integrate into varsity programs.
Principal and athletic staff said the district supports the groups as part of broader co-curricular programming and highlighted research staff cited showing higher grades, better attendance and lower discipline rates for participating students. Board members complimented the students and asked questions about participation numbers; presenters estimated about 10 students per session on average and up to 30–35 upperclassmen invited on a rotating sign-up list.
