A Wildwood youth member presented a proposal to develop a mobile app that maps, photographs and describes Wildwood’s historic sites and adds interactive features for younger users. The commission voted to endorse the project and encouraged staff and commissioners to support and advise the development.
The presenter, identified in the meeting as the youth member, described features including an interactive map that highlights historic neighborhoods (Pond, Fox Creek, Grover), site images and descriptions, a preservation calendar with event notifications, and educational interactive games for children. During discussion commissioners suggested adding a QR‑scan feature and “medallion” markers that users could scan to bring up photos and histories for sites that no longer exist.
The youth member said the target for a first usable version would be by the end of the next school year. Commissioners asked how the commission could help; staff and commissioners offered to provide content and technical suggestions. A motion to endorse the project passed by raised‑hand vote; the presenter was invited to keep commissioners updated as development proceeds.
