Planning staff provides update on proposed commercial rezoning and building design at Hawthorne Village Parkway site

The Planning and Zoning Commission received an informational update on PZ2-25 (G2 Property Holdings / Wildwood Auto Mart), an application to amend the governing commercial plan at a site near the terminus of Hawthorne Village Parkway to permit a warehouse facility and outdoor equipment storage.
Mr. Newberry read the application and site location into the record. Mr. Vinic said public hearing in April generated questions about the current site condition, future condition under rezoning and the design and architecture of the proposed building that would house the lawn-maintenance business. The petitioner supplied additional manufacturer information showing building components that "can be added to it to lessen the look of it as a metal building and more as a stick build type," Mr. Vinic said.
The preliminary development plan has been updated based on comments from the April hearing. The department provided the updated materials to the commission ahead of a scheduled June meeting so members would have time to review and prepare questions; the department did not request a vote at this meeting and instead presented the updated materials as information.
No formal action was taken; staff invited commissioners to submit questions for the June meeting when the matter will return for further consideration.
