Council adopts several plats, retains existing Manchester Road sign, and approves replacement van purchase

The Wildwood City Council on May 12 approved by second reading a package of routine planning and administrative ordinances: boundary adjustments and consolidations for several plats, retention of an existing post-and-arm sign abutting Manchester Road, and authorization to purchase a replacement 2025 Chrysler Voyager van for city use.
Items adopted on second reading included boundary-adjustment plats (Chateau Square, Boyle Holcomb consolidation, Eagles Rest Plat 2, Consolidated Plat Swallow) and an amendment to the C-8 planned commercial district that allows the existing post-and-arm sign on Manchester Road to remain in its current location. Planning staff told council the sign’s current location is not strictly consistent with the ordinance but that retaining it was the most logical outcome; council approved the amendment.
The council also authorized the Department of Planning and Parks to acquire a 2025 Chrysler Voyager van from a local dealership for up to $41,000 to replace the department’s 2005 Dodge Caravan. Council members discussed keeping the existing vehicle for limited use while the fleet is adjusted.
Separately, the council heard a first reading of an ordinance to establish a low-Earth-orbit (LEO) satellite Internet equipment rebate program for qualifying households; staff asked that the LEO rebate bill be held from final action this month because a few contractual details remain to be finalized.
The council voted voice and roll-call as required and approved the second readings and associated ordinances that had been moved forward earlier in the meeting.
