Ingleside Public Library earns state recognition for services, city leaders praise staff

Ingleside — The Ingleside Public Library was recognized by the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association with the 2024 Achievement of Excellence in Libraries award, a city presenter announced March 20.
The presenter said the award places the Ingleside Public Library among 102 of the 542 public library systems in Texas, putting it in the top 19 percent statewide. The library director described programs that contributed to the award, including early-childhood activities, outreach to underserved and bilingual populations, ESL classes offered in collaboration with the San Patrician County adult literacy council, a video-game program added to board-game events, cultural programming such as a Dia de Muertos altar and workforce-development efforts that mentored special-needs high school volunteers through the Texas Workforce Commission earn-and-learn program.
Council members praised the library staff and volunteers for their community work and encouraged residents to use library resources. The mayor and council presented the library staff with a formal recognition during the meeting.
The library director thanked staff, volunteers, partnering city departments and the community for support and said the award reflects teamwork and collaboration.
