Cobb Elections plans temporary co-location of Kennesaw 4A at Ben Robertson Community Center; council moved item to consent

Cobb Elections has requested Kennesaw’s approval to temporarily co-locate the Kennesaw 4A precinct with Kennesaw 3A at the Ben Robertson Community Center after Kennesaw First Baptist Church said it no longer wants to serve as a polling place.

A Cobb Elections representative told the council that the county expects similar turnout to historical elections and is confident the community center can handle November turnout. The county voted to approve the co-location at its May 5 meeting; the city council moved the item to the consent agenda at the work session.

On voter notification, the representative said Cobb Elections will mail postcards to all voters in the affected precinct and will place a 4-foot-by-4-foot sign at the former church location for the week prior to Election Day and additional yard signs at each entrance of the old location the day before the election. The co-location is planned through the end of 2025 while the county and elections office seek a longer-term replacement.

Councilmember comment asked whether the move was temporary; the elections representative said the county did not want to make a temporary change for June and then change again for November, so the locations will remain collocated through the end of 2025 while a permanent solution is sought. The item was placed on the consent agenda for formal approval.
