City updates progress on Green Street Market, pavilion and public‑art selections

Staff said exterior glazing, roofing and brick facade work are in progress at Green Street Market; wooden panels temporarily cover openings where future glass doors will be installed. Construction crews are installing utilities and a catering kitchen and concession area will be located on the market’s southwest side with bathrooms at both ends of the building. The outdoor canopy adjacent to the market is under construction — steel beams and cross posts will support a translucent polymer roof designed to make the Green Street lawn usable year‑round for programmed activities and performances.
Concrete has been poured in front of City Hall and crews will soon begin pavement, hardscape and landscaping work for Green Street. The Streetscape Pavilion will be a gateway to the market, including an art walk, immersive kids’ play features, outdoor seating and gathering spaces. Staff said four local artists were selected for the City Hall public parking garage and three finalists were chosen for the Green Street Market digital mural; an announcement is expected soon.
Third Street from Douglas to the Green Street intersection is expected to open (staff cited prior schedule milestones), followed by Green Street to Johnson Street on the timeline the city published. Staff directed residents to cityofls.net/greenstreet for project details and to watch for forthcoming public‑art announcements and phased openings.
