Lee's Summit committee hears state legislative update as bills affecting land transfer, funding and data privacy move through Jefferson City

Lee's Summit's Legislative and Intergovernmental Relations Committee received an update from city staff on state legislation that could affect local projects, funding and resident data during its meeting. Committee members approved routine agenda items before spending the bulk of the session on the legislative briefing.

City staff summarized several bills of interest and the risk they face as they move to the governor. "As I sent out to the entire council on Friday, House Bill 105, which is the bill that included the land transfer that we needed in order to do the 291 North project, passed through the Senate ... So it has now been sent to the governor," Mr. Head, a city staff member, told the committee.

Why it matters: the measures discussed would enable a local land transfer tied to the 291/50 project, provide appropriations earmarked for the city's joint operations facility and change how certain personal and minor-related park data can be requested or used.
