Ward working group seeks neighborhood meetings to explain water‑adequacy ballot initiative

Daniel Carty, a local resident and member of the Water Adequacy for Residential Development ward working group, told the Interneighborhood Council that the group will collect signatures through June 23 to place the Ward Ballad Initiative on the November 2025 city ballot.
Carty said the working group defines affordable rental housing as units affordable to households at 60 percent of area median income (AMI) or below and affordable for‑sale housing as priced at 120 percent of AMI or below. He noted the group is all volunteer and aims to conserve Bozeman’s water supply while preserving local affordability. “A full copy of the initiative, a policy brief and FAQs are available at wardbzn.com,” Carty said.
Carty offered to discuss the initiative with any neighborhood association that requests a presentation; he asked interested groups to contact the working group via wardbozemangmail dot com. The Interneighborhood Council was informed that the City Commission held a staff work session April 22 reviewing potential impacts of the initiative; council members advised neighborhoods to review the city’s analysis as part of their deliberations.
