Downtown Partnership updates: $75,000 peace park grant, Pedlet pilot and street-lighting plans

Staff for the Downtown Bozeman Partnership reported several capital and grant-funded projects advancing in downtown Bozeman, including an open-lands grant for a new peace park, a micro-retail/pedestrian pilot and new pedestrian lighting installations.
Ellie, staff member, said the E. Hope Pomeroy Peace Park received a $75,000 open-lands grant that was processed through the county and that planning is under way. She said a press release from the county was available for board members and that project work is progressing.
Ellie also described a Pedlet pilot program intended to place a Pedlet (a small vendor or micro-retail unit) with Bitterroot Bistro as the business partner. “You could see a Pedlet as early as maybe July 1,” Ellie said, subject to ordering the unit and securing permits. Staff reported they are finalizing the budget and hoped to go to bid by June 1.
On streetscape work, Ellie said crews have installed luminaire bases as part of the Fifth and Main lighting project and that the Partnership is coordinating with the Midtown URD and Montana Department of Transportation to extend pedestrian lighting from Seventh Street to Grand by about the end of 2027. A downtown streetscape standard is in the final approval stages after a hold-up with anchored bolts for lighting along Main Street with MDT.
Other projects noted included a beautification alley project targeted for substantial completion by June 30 and a general update that over $105,000 in grant funds have been secured for multiple downtown initiatives. Board members asked for updates and schedule confirmations; staff said they will return with final purchase and permitting timelines.
