The Beacon City Council voted to adjourn the public hearing on a proposed local law amending accessory‑apartment requirements to May 19 at the request of the planning board, City Attorney Nick Bordewellis said.
Bordewellis explained that the planning board is continuing its review and that the county planning board’s letter is already in the agenda packet; he said additional planning‑board comments are expected. “We just need a motion from the council to adjourn the public hearing to May 19,” Bordewellis said.
Council Member Amber moved to adjourn the hearing and Paloma seconded. The council approved the adjournment by voice vote with all members present voting yes. The city asked interested members of the public to contact the mayor’s office or the planning staff with questions in the interim.
The adjournment delays final council action on the proposed local law; the matter will return to council after the planning board completes its review.
