Staff reported the sports complex synthetic turf installation is underway and that tournaments have already been held; the Inclusive Playground and Harrison Splash Pad work is in active construction with an anticipated opening in mid‑ to late August as installation and final site restoration continue. "We're still on track to open mid to August," staff said. Kiwanis Village Park's new age 2–5 playground was reported as installed and approaching final turf work, and Wagner Playground turf installation was expected to finish shortly.
On capital financials, staff presented January–April financials and noted use of an approved portion of fund balance for the Kiwanis Village playground project; they identified a $33,001.50 capital expense posted year to date for that project. Staff reported routine maintenance items and commercial door repairs at marina facilities and said 22 boat slip renters have returned for the season.
On planning, staff reviewed the timeline for the 2026 Park and Open Space Plan and said public input is being collected through an online survey and outreach efforts; June 15 was set as the survey close date. Staff explained the plan will be used to set goals, support grant applications and guide capital priorities. "We can utilize it for grant applications," a staff member said, adding that the plan becomes the backbone for park operations and capital work.
No substantive decisions beyond routine approvals and motioned financial items were taken; staff asked the board to monitor project openings and to expect future agenda items that present completed designs or funding requests as projects near their next phases.
