County lists proposed one‑time items tied to FY26 budget; staff to bring appropriations in July

Montgomery County staff on April 14 reviewed one‑time funding requests tied to the fiscal‑year 2026 budget and said they intend to return to the board in July with appropriation items if one‑time revenues are available.
County staff said some divisions submitted requests that are appropriate for non‑recurring funding. Notable items include $250,000 to replace the county’s land management software with a platform that provides an online citizen portal and improved project management, $43,800 for software maintenance and cybersecurity contracts, and a $75,000 allocation for a county 250th‑anniversary event. The county also listed $323,400 in one‑time fire/EMS equipment purchases and a package of items supporting 12 new firefighter/EMS positions (turnout gear, mobile radios and uniforms) with $286,625 in recurring funds already included in the FY26 budget for those positions.
Other one‑time items include two small vehicle purchases for code enforcement and the library IT van, and $50,000 for formal uniform purchases for fire and EMS ceremonial functions. County staff said the total one‑time request list is just under $1.4 million and that the projected one‑time revenue surplus for the current fiscal year provides a possible funding source.
Staff said the county will return with appropriation requests in July if the board wishes to fund these items with one‑time monies rather than recurring budget increases. Supervisors asked clarifying questions about specific items and timing for procurement.
