Local coffee vendor urges Oldsmar to expand Saturday market, improve visibility and add midweek day

Steve Caldwell, owner of Beam Bus Coffee Creators, used the city’s citizens forum on April 15 to praise Oldsmar’s new Saturday market and suggest two changes to help it grow.
Caldwell said the market’s April opening — which coincided with Oldsmar’s 109th birthday — was “a great success” and thanked the Chamber of Commerce and city leaders for the event. He urged the council to move the market to a vacant lot on Commerce Street so it would be more visible from Tampa Road and recommended adding a midweek market day, naming Wednesday or Thursday as possible options. “If you build it, they will come,” he said, praising other cities that run midweek markets and noting that Saturdays compete with other special events and weekend plans.
Caldwell told the council that some alternate locations, such as the site adjacent to City Hall, offered better shade and pavement but that the Commerce Street site could improve visibility and draw more drive-by traffic.
Council members did not take action at the meeting; staff suggested residents who want follow-up should use the city’s green comment cards, which are collected by the clerk for staff follow-up.
