Council members set a special work session for 4:30 p.m. on May 8 to finish the five-year plan that, per council remarks, the charter targets for completion by June 1. Staff members Richard and Casey were identified as needed participants for the session; councilors asked that the staff share the relevant documents in advance so members unable to attend can review them via the livestream.
Separately, councilors reported ongoing coordination with the town of Plattsburgh on a Memorial Day parade scheduled for Monday, May 26. The parade is planned to begin at West Side Ballroom, proceed down New York Road around the traffic circle, and conclude at the Oval, followed by a Memorial Day ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park at 1 p.m. Food trucks and volunteers were mentioned; councilors asked residents to contact the mayor’s office or the councilor leading the effort to volunteer.
Councilors said the May 8 work session will be open for public viewing but is intended as an internal working meeting; no vote is planned for that session, though the council intends to return to its regular meeting schedule and to present the finished five-year plan by the charter deadline.
