The Wichita City Council approved the Board of Bids and Contracts report for May 12, 2025, and accepted staff recommendations to award multiple construction and procurement contracts.
Josh Lauber of Finance summarized the board's recommendations: the 2025 sidewalk maintenance contract was awarded to South Central Ceilings LLC for $709,525; the 2024 dirt street paving Phase 2 award went to ConSpec/Kansas Paving for $360,820; the 2025 outsource pavement preservation program (concrete street repair phase 1) was awarded to ConSpec (engineer’s estimate award amount of $432,000); joint and crack seal work was awarded to Circle C Paving for $209,554.40; the 2025 sanitary sewer rehabilitation (phase A) was awarded to Invision (Inustru? noted in packet) to the low bidder (about $417,026); and other waterline extension and material procurements were described.
Council members asked clarifying questions about variances between bids and engineer estimates and whether that would affect lane miles repaired; city staff said unit prices and engineer's estimates will guide final quantities and contract management. The council approved the board report and the awards by voice vote, 7–0.
Staff will manage contracts through the standard project management and procurement processes; award amounts and unit prices are recorded in the board of bids report and will be finalized in contract documents.
