Choctaw County adopts policy requiring department heads to sign time sheets

Commissioner Dahlgren introduced the proposal and said department heads currently sign time sheets for their staff and that problems had occurred when departments delegated that responsibility. "If the department had done sign the time sheets, then we shouldn't be issuing paychecks, in my opinion," Dahlgren said during the discussion and asked the county attorney to draft the policy language.
The motion to have the county attorney draft the policy and to add the requirement to the personnel policy carried unanimously among commissioners present.
Ending: The commission approved the draft request and directed the county attorney to prepare formal language for inclusion in the county personnel policy; the county administrator was authorized to hold paychecks until signed time sheets are provided, per the approved direction.
