Choctaw County schedules temporary closure for drainage repairs, approves construction-management invoice

He said he would try to get a single lane open as quickly as possible and asked staff to notify families who live on the road so residents could plan ahead.

The engineer said he would have dump trucks and loaders ready to fill the hole quickly if needed and that the county could open the road for emergency vehicles within minutes. He gave technical details about the repair: the pipe segment is about 50 feet long and work would replace or partially replace pipe sections; he also discussed using a 48-inch pipe where feasible.
The engineer said crews started prep work on McCarty's Ferry and planned to put in centerline striping and begin paving, aiming to complete the project in about three weeks, barring other emergencies that would require redirecting staff. He said paving would use most county road employees while the work is underway.
On procurement and contractor relationships, the engineer said Hosey Weaver had been acquired by APAC and that APAC is honoring annual contracts; he discussed hauling and the county's preference to provide in-kind hauling to meet its contribution share where possible.
