Commission honors Corporal Ricky Tobin on retirement after three decades in county law enforcement

The Baldwin County Commission on May 6 adopted Resolution 2025‑099 commending Corporal Ricky Tobin on the occasion of his retirement after more than 30 years of service with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
The resolution, read into the record, traces Tobin’s career: he began in law enforcement in July 1987 as a deputy jailer, completed the Southwest Alabama Police Academy Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission in May 1991, transferred to patrol in August 1995, and was promoted to corporal in February 2005. The resolution also notes Tobin’s induction into the Mississippi Valley State University Athletic Hall of Fame in April 2022.
Why it matters: the resolution is a formal recognition of long service across corrections, patrol and specialized units. Tobin addressed the commission and thanked family, colleagues and the community for support, saying he “did this job because I love Baldwin County, and I wanted to serve the citizen of Baldwin County to serve and protect them.”
