City staff presented the proposed FY2026 budget calendar to the Everman City Council, outlining key meetings and deadlines for the summer budget process.
Major meetings include a July budget workshop to review payroll, benefits, the water and sewer fund and special revenue expenditures. Staff said the meeting will be a Friday starting at 1 p.m. with lunch provided beforehand. August meetings will focus on proposed property tax rates, revenue estimates and preparation of the budget book. Staff plans a public hearing on the tax rate and proposed budget in August, with adoption of the proposed budget that same month and a September meeting to ratify the property tax rate and record the vote on the tax-rate ordinance.
Councilmembers raised scheduling conflicts with a July date and staff said budget books would be distributed to council members in advance; staff also offered one-on-one time to review materials for members with conflicts. The council did not take formal budget votes at the meeting; calendar adoption was discussed as the planning timeline for the FY2026 process.
