NASSAU BAY, Texas — At its Feb. 10 meeting the Nassau Bay City Council approved a package of administrative actions that included resolutions calling a May 3, 2025 special election on proposed charter amendments and a general city election to elect three council members; authorized submission of a letter of intent to contract with Harris County for joint election services; appointed several committee members and rescheduled the March regular meeting.
Council approved Resolution 2025-02-10-1 to place proposed charter amendments on a special election ballot on May 3, 2025. Councilors discussed proposed charter language from the Charter Review Committee, including appointment and term-limit language for chairs of boards and commissions; staff clarified that any conflict between charter language and current ordinance would be resolved by the charter's superior authority if voters approve the amendment.
Council also approved the standard resolution for the general municipal election to fill three council seats and authorized a letter of intent for joint election services with Harris County to avoid the operational burden and expense of an independent city-run election; councilmembers said the joint contract typically reduces local costs.
On appointments, council filled short-term vacancies: it appointed Rhonda K.
