At a meeting of the Citizen Government Review Committee in City Hall, members agreed on a concise report structure and said they will present the committee's findings and recommendations to the City Council on June 17, with staff assembling appendices and formatting the package.
The committee's chair, Chair Kalk, described the document as intended to be short and direct: "The idea, and I hope somebody's got a better 1, was just to have a very concise report. So this these are our findings. This is, this these are our recommendations." The committee discussed attaching minutes and supporting documents in chronological order as appendices and using a single appendix or a short report plus appendices as needed.
Committee members asked about presentation order and whether the report layout would be the order presented to City Council; Chair Kalk said the committee could reorder topics before the council presentation. The committee also discussed whether to include short summaries of conferees' remarks in each issue paper or to list conferees and dates in a separate section and rely on minutes for full testimony. Member Zach said he would remove detailed conferee summaries from his draft and supply only names and dates to keep the report concise.
Brenda, the staff member responsible for formatting, said she would standardize fonts and apply a single layout once the committee submitted final versions: "If you guys would like to send me the actual recommendations after you make the revisions, I absolutely can put it in a report in a for a formatted report that you all would think acceptable." The committee agreed that Brenda would assemble the appendices and apply the formatting.
The committee also discussed how the item would appear on the council agenda. Staff said a discussion item could appear on the preliminary agenda the week of June 4, with the final report attached when the final agenda posts the week before the meeting; the council typically uses that timeline to allow a week of review before action.
The committee left open minor layout decisions and deferred any final reordering of topics until the next meeting when members can review a near-final draft.
