Commission approves contractor office and equipment storage SUP at Lakeview Drive

The Planning Commission recommended approval of Special Use Permit SUP-24-0032232 to allow a contractor’s office and on-site storage of vehicles and equipment at 232 Lakeview Drive.
Staff reported the applicant contracted STENTAC to delineate the 100-foot RPA (source-protection area) associated with Little Creek Reservoir; that delineation showed the proposed storage area lies outside the 100-foot RPA and therefore the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area review was not required. Staff said conditions would prohibit parking, equipment storage or additional soil disturbance within 15 feet of the RPA and would limit the number of vehicles parked on site. The applicant (Amanda and Erin Beavers of Williamsburg Contracting) told the commission they use the site only to store trailers and a dump truck; they said no on-site construction work occurs there and that spill pans are already in use under equipment.
Commissioners asked about spill-prevention measures and whether they were enforceable; staff said spill-prevention practices were described in the plan and that the site would be subject to review and enforcement by stormwater staff. After discussion, the commission voted to recommend approval; a roll-call vote recorded unanimous support among those present.
