Council approves $1,358 purchase of message boards for Bluebird Park

The Isanti City Council approved purchasing three message boards for Bluebird Park — a large entrance board and two smaller signs for the shelter and amphitheater — at a total cost of $1,358.19 to be paid from the park dedication fund.
Stephanie, representing parks staff, summarized a recommendation from the Feb. 25 parks and recreation board that staff contact local groups about building signs but concluded volunteer groups were unavailable in the near term. The parks board recommended purchasing one large green message board at the park entrance and two smaller mounted boards to provide rental notices and event information.
“The recommendation was to have a large green message board at the entrance of Bluebird Park… and then also two smaller ones mounted at the park shelter and one on the amphitheater,” Stephanie said. Staff recommended funding the purchase from the park dedication fund and sought council direction.
Council Member Lundin moved to approve the purchase; Council Member Heaman seconded. The council approved the purchase by unanimous voice vote, 4‑0. Staff suggested including QR codes on the boards to link to the city website or events page.
The boards are to be installed at the entrance near the restroom and along pathways where shelter and amphitheater renters and park users can see rental notices and event information.
