Morrison County names prosecutor Laura Welly quarterly award recipient and honors public‑works retiree

The Morrison County Board of Commissioners on May 6 presented the first‑quarter Award of Excellence to Laura Welly and recognized the retirement of public‑works employee Kenny Lucas Savage.

Administrator LeBlanc described the county Awards of Excellence program, which selects quarterly recipients from nominations reviewed by a selection committee that includes the board chair, vice chair and department heads. LeBlanc read the nomination excerpts for Welly, which said she is “consistently available,” “knowledgeable about her cases,” “always well prepared and professional,” and “often seen in the office on weekends prepping her cases.” Welly thanked probation for the nomination and family members who attended. “I really enjoy working here,” she said.

Separately, the board honored Kenny Lucas Savage for long service in public works. Tony, a public‑works supervisor, described Savage as versatile and dependable, praising his skill operating equipment and his rapport with coworkers. Commissioners presented Savage with a commemorative print signed by commissioners and offered best wishes for his retirement.
