Todd County accepts $15,000 MDA grant to target Palmer amaranth and wild parsnip

The Todd County Board voted May 6 to accept a 2025 noxious weed and invasive plant grant from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture totaling $15,000.
County staff said the award will be administered through the county’s general fund, with the county paying bills up front and being reimbursed by the MDA after invoices are reviewed. The county ag inspector described how the funding will be used: to spray roughly three miles of township road adjacent to newly identified Palmer amaranth fields to prevent spread and to treat newly identified wild parsnip on roadsides.
The board approved the grant by motion with no dissent. Commissioners thanked staff and the ag inspector for pursuing the funding and for the briefing on how the spray work will be targeted to prevent invasive species spread.
