Board approves furniture quotes, credit-line increase and to interview internal applicant for auditor-treasurer vacancy

Hubbard County commissioners approved low bids for furnishings for the county’s construction project and the new dispatch center, with the dispatch furniture bid from Zybex at $73,172 falling well under the $100,000 estimate. County staff said the total furniture budget for the project was $240,000 (with $140,000 for the second floor) and that current bids are under those amounts.
The board also approved a request to increase purchasing limits on a credit card used by the sheriff’s SWAT and response teams; staff said the existing $3,000 credit limit was sometimes insufficient for timely purchases and the change aligns limits with other county accounts.
On hiring, county administration reported that initial external recruitment yielded no qualified candidates for auditor-treasurer; staff obtained quotes for targeted searches from three firms (CliftonLarsonAllen, MGT and David Drown Associates). Because an internal, qualified applicant later applied, the administrator recommended interviewing that candidate first before authorizing an external search. The board agreed to identify two commissioners to participate in the interview and to schedule interviews later in the week.
Separately, the board set a public hearing for the county’s five-year capital plan for 9:30 a.m. on June 3, per the capital plan policy requirement to hold a hearing before final approval.
Each of these items was approved by voice vote.
