Park Rapids ambulance reports staffing gains, steady patient satisfaction and slightly slower call volumes

North Ambulance reported adding a second crew for 12 hours daily at Park Rapids, slightly improved short response times and perfect patient-satisfaction scores from a small sample for the quarter.
Representatives from North Ambulance told the Hubbard County Board that Park Rapids now has two staffed ambulance crews in place daily — one 24-hour crew and a second crew staffed from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. seven days a week — and that 84% of runs had a paramedic on board while 16% had two EMTs under the company’s part-time ALS model.
“Before March 21 we didn’t quite have it seven days a week, but now we have two trucks there every single day,” Kevin Lee, EMS relationship specialist for North Ambulance, said. Lee reported 392 patient transports in the first quarter of 2025 compared with 460 in the same period of 2024 and described a system-wide trend of a slower spring.
Lee said response times improved slightly in the under-10-minute category to roughly 61% and that the service reached under-20-minute response 88% of the time and under-30-minute response 97% of the time. He also said the company’s sampled patient-satisfaction score was 100% for the quarter, with two written comments including “they were very polite and concerned about me; I appreciate everything they did for me.”
Mike Zimmer, Park Rapids district chief (North Ambulance), described community engagement: participation in a local mass-casualty exercise at St. Joseph’s Hospital, first-responder classes in local high schools (with plans to add La Porte next year), CPR/AED training for community groups and regular coordination with hospital administration and the sheriff’s office.
Board members had no questions and thanked the North Ambulance team for their report.
