Board approves rezoning for 340 Primrose Drive after brief public hearing

The Henry County Board of Supervisors voted 6-0 Feb. 25 to approve a rezoning request for a property at 340 Primrose Drive in the Blackberry District.
Lee Clark, director of planning and zoning, told the board the parcel (tax map 13-9-167A) is slightly more than a half-acre and the applicant requested rezoning from Suburban Residential (SR) to Rural Residential (RR). Clark said the original house was destroyed by fire and the applicant wants the option to replace the dwelling with a single-wide, double-wide or site-built home. Both staff and the planning commission had recommended approval.
During a public hearing, Richard Kendrick spoke on behalf of his mother and said the family wants the property rezoned to allow rebuilding. Following the hearing the district supervisor said the lot is clean following the fire and indicated support for the request.
After a motion and second, the board approved the rezoning 6-0.
