The Hanover County Board of Supervisors voted on several procedural and administrative matters during its March 12 meeting, including a reappointment to a county committee, an amendment to a resolution about the treasurer’s review team and approval of a compromise on an old tax claim.
Several routine items were moved off or revised in the consent agenda before the board approved the remainder of the consent items as amended.
Among recorded actions, the board reappointed Ricky Ladd to the Transportation Committee representing the Mechanicsville Magisterial District for a term ending Dec. 31, 2026. The board also voted to amend a resolution concerning the treasurer review team by removing the county finance director from the specified review panel and substituting the deputy county administrator for administrative services. Finally, the board authorized the treasurer to compromise and settle a 2006 personal-property tax claim for $1,786.03 pursuant to the Code of Virginia provision cited by the treasurer’s office.
The votes on these items were taken by voice; in each case the board chair called for those “in favor” and the board responded “aye”; no recorded opposition was announced in the meeting transcript.
The board took these votes following a recess that allowed further discussion of the treasurer-resolution language and after the treasurer briefed the board on a separate request to compromise an old tax judgment.
What changed on consent: the board removed agenda item 5C2 (Pamunkey Regional Jail) from the consent list at the request of Supervisor Pritchard and later approved the revised consent agenda as presented.
Why it matters: reappointments and membership on county committees determine local advisory representation; the change to the treasurer review-team membership alters which administrative officials will help review tax-relief policy; and the treasurer’s settlement closes a 19-year-old claim brought to the board for authorization.

Board next steps: Several of these items (notably the treasurer settlement and the resolution language change) originated from prior committee review and required a brief period of discussion before final board action.
