South Carolina Arts Commission promotes arts-directory, Teaching Artist Symposium and statewide survey

At the webinar close, the South Carolina Arts Commission invited teaching artists to join its online Arts Directory, use a new on-demand Teaching Artist Symposium and complete a short 'canvas' survey to inform the agencystrategic plan.
Near the end of the webinar, Kimberly Mott, arts learning director at the South Carolina Arts Commission, outlined several state resources for teaching artists and partner organizations.
Mott asked participants to complete the commission's "Canvas of the People" survey to inform the agency's next strategic plan and said the survey takes about three minutes. She also described the South Carolina Arts Directory, an online catalog of working artists and teaching artists in the state, and noted that grantees are required to use artists from the directory when bringing an artist in residence through certain grants.
Mott demonstrated the Teaching Artist Symposium platform: an on-demand, members-only learning site for artists listed in the directory that offers recorded sessions, an exhibit hall of resources, and a "virtual briefcase" to save materials. She said the directory currently lists roughly 300 artists and that directory membership is free to apply for.
All three resources—the Canvas survey link, the Arts Directory application and the Teaching Artist Symposium login—were offered as follow-up items posted with the webinar materials on the South Carolina Arts Commission website.
