City to issue refrigerant-management consultant RFP in April, staff says

City staff told Climate Smart Kingston on Feb. 26 that a draft request for proposals (RFP) for a refrigerant-management consultant has been circulated to the budget advisory committee and will be inserted into the city procurement template for issuance in April.
Julie Noble said she circulated the draft to the recruitment team and expects feedback this week; the plan is to bring a consultant on board in May and complete the project within a year or less. The consultant would support a refrigerant-management program for municipal equipment and provide technical expertise to the city.
Why it matters A refrigerant-management plan can help the city control greenhouse-gas emissions from high-global-warming-potential refrigerants, ensure regulatory compliance and identify replacement or retirement pathways for aging equipment. Staff indicated the RFP language is nearly complete and solicited comments from committee members before finalizing the procurement package.
