Kingston City Hall Ground Floor gallery needs lighting repairs; engineering estimate $10,000–$20,000
Summary
Kingston Arts Commission discussed persistent wiring and lighting problems in the City Hall Ground Floor gallery and a preliminary engineering estimate of $10,000–$20,000 to upgrade fixtures; staff said preservation approvals and an electrician assessment are required before funding decisions.
The Kingston Arts Commission on March 13 heard an update on chronic lighting and wiring problems in the City Hall Ground Floor gallery that have left the space poorly lit for exhibitions.
Chair Lisa Kelly reported that two lamps had failed and that a wiring issue and limited electrical outlets in the hallway are recurring problems. She said the city engineer has reviewed the site and that an estimate from engineering places the cost in the range of $10,000–$20,000, subject to further evaluation by an electrician and compatibility with preservation requirements.
