The Auburn City Council on May 1 approved a one-year agreement with Canine Cove LLC to provide dog control and kennel services for the city from June 1, 2025, through May 31, 2026, with options to renew for two additional one-year terms.
The city issued a request for proposals and received a single submission from Canine Cove LLC of Moravia, New York. City staff reviewed the proposal and recommended awarding the contract; the resolution authorizes the mayor to sign the agreement and future renewals. The contract requires Canine Cove to perform dog control duties and to enforce relevant state and city ordinances.
The council and mayor took a moment to acknowledge Carl Collier and his family for long-time service as the prior dog control provider; Collier is retiring. "I want to acknowledge Mr. Carl Collier and really his family, for their long time partnership and providing the service to the city of Auburn. Mr. Collier is embarking on a much needed and deserved retirement," Mayor James N. Genentino said.
Councilors voted by roll call to approve the agreement resolution; the vote carried among members present. The city clerk and staff will finalize the contract documents and implement the transition to the new provider.
