Auburn approves master agreement with NYSDOT for $1.49 million Brookside Drive culvert replacement

The Auburn City Council on May 1 authorized a master agreement with the New York State Department of Transportation to advance a replacement project for the Brookside Drive culvert (PIN 3757.6) under the Bridge New York program and set the project budget at $1,485,430.

The resolution states the project is eligible for Bridge New York funding and that the state share is 100% of the estimated project cost as shown in the master agreement's Schedule A; the city committed to advance 100% of the non-state share costs for design, right-of-way incidentals and construction where applicable. The city comptroller was authorized to establish revenue and expenditure accounts for the project.

"The City of Auburn desires to advance the project by making a commitment of 100% of the non state share of the cost for design, right of way incidentals, right of way acquisition, and construction," the resolution reads. Council authorized the mayor to sign the master agreement and any reimbursement requests associated with the project.

The resolution directs the City Comptroller to establish revenue account 359 and expenditure account 542 with the stated $1,485,430 budget. Councilors voted by roll call and carried the resolution as presented.

The agreement enables the city to move design and construction work forward and positions the project to receive state-administered funding under Bridge New York, with staff required to execute the paperwork and place the project on the city's capital accounting records.
