Council authorizes sale of city surplus goods under updated procurement and surplus policy

The Auburn City Council approved a resolution authorizing the sale of city-owned miscellaneous parts, vehicles and other surplus items through auction in accordance with the City of Auburn’s 2025 Procurement and Surplus Policy.
Resolution 60 (2025) references the council’s prior adoption of the procurement and surplus policy earlier in the year and directs the sale of surplus items that have outlived their useful life or are no longer necessary for city purposes. The resolution authorizes staff to dispose of identified items (listed in attachment A to the policy) in a manner intended to obtain best value for the city.
Councilors voted in favor on roll call: Councilor Kent — yes; Councilor Overstreet Wilson — yes; Councilor Cuddy — yes; Councilor Calarco — aye; Mayor James Genentino — aye. Councilors noted this is a routine administrative step to clear inventory and recoup value for city operations.
Staff will proceed with an auction process per the procurement and surplus policy and return sale proceeds to appropriate municipal accounts.
