The Auburn City Council on Thursday approved salary increases for employees and the executive director of the Auburn Housing Authority after the Authority transmitted its resolution authorizing the raises.
Resolution 59 of 2025 records that the Auburn Housing Authority authorized salary increases by its own resolution dated April 7, 2025, and that, pursuant to Public Housing Law Section 32, compensation paid by a public housing authority is subject to city‑council approval. Councilor Cuddy sponsored the resolution and Councilor Kent seconded it.
Stephanie Hutchinson, identified in the meeting as the Executive Director of the Auburn Housing Authority, attended and was available for council questions. City staff clarified the action has no impact on the city’s general fund because the Auburn Housing Authority operates on its own budget.
The council called the roll and approved the resolution: Councilor Kent — yes; Councilor Overstreet Wilson — yes; Councilor Cuddy — yes; Councilor Calarco — aye; Mayor James Genentino — aye.
The resolution approves the increases “as are more fully set forth” in the Authority’s resolution and attaches that document to the council resolution for the record. No additional changes to city policy or staffing were made in council action.
