Council approves two ordinances and names Great Fund committee; details and roll calls

Ordinance 2025-02: zoning amendment adopted
Council adopted ordinance 2025-02, which rezones parcels at the intersection of Zohr Road and Sussex Pine Road from Neighborhood Residential (UR-3) to Urban Residential (UR-1). The council recorded a roll-call adoption with the four ward votes and the mayor voting aye.
Ordinance 2025-03: fee modifications adopted
Council also adopted ordinance 2025-03, which modifies multiple municipal fees and rates. Items noted in the council presentation included that meter flow tests would be billed by an outside provider; after-hours utility valve shut-offs would be charged at $100 per man-hour (one-hour minimum); a water debt service fee of $9.66 per 30,000 gallons and a sewer debt service fee of $6.51 per 30,000 gallons were listed; certificate of occupancy inspection would be $25 and reinspection $50; and other fee updates were enumerated in the ordinance. The ordinance passed by unanimous voice and roll-call votes.
Great Fund Committee appointments
Council appointed five members to the 2025 Great Fund Committee and voted to confirm the appointments. Appointees announced during the meeting were Adam Buzkowski (Ward 1), Renee Hickman (Ward 2), Angie Townsend (Ward 3), Linda Dennis (Ward 4) and John Peterson (at-large acceptance). The council then approved the slate by motion and voice vote.
