At the March 24 meeting the Georgetown Town Council adopted the fiscal year 2026 annual tax assessment.
Town staff member Jean DeBorde reported the figures presented to council: a reported total assessed value for the town of $72,067,788 and that 22.4% of the total was listed as exempt. Staff reported the exempt amount and the resulting taxable assessment in the meeting presentation; council discussed that new county assessments will be used beginning with the FY2027 budget cycle. The council moved to accept the tax assessment, the motion was seconded, and the council voted in favor by voice vote.
Council and staff noted residents will receive assessment notices and that the town will transition to the county’s new assessments for the following fiscal year. No changes to tax rates were recorded in the March 24 motion; the action was to adopt the annual assessed values for FY2026 budgeting purposes.
The motion to adopt the FY2026 annual tax assessment carried by unanimous vote.
