DHS to include originating‑agency representatives when reviewing adult maltreatment registry removal requests

DHS will add a rule allowing representatives from originating entities to join review panels when removal requests for the adult maltreatment registry originate from those entities, the department told lawmakers.
The Department of Human Services told the committee it will amend rules governing the adult maltreatment registry so that, when a removal request originates from an entity outside the division — specifically the Office of Long Term Care or the Attorney General’s Office — a representative from that originating entity will join the review panel.
Jay Hill of DHS’s Division of Aging and Adult Services said the adult registry had created a removal pathway similar to the children's registry but inadvertently omitted the caveat that originating entities should be represented when they placed a name on the registry. Hill said the rule would “make the change to allow that when that panel reviews request for removal from the registry and that request originates with either the office of long term care or the attorney general's office, that a representative from that originating entity would also be included in the review process.”
Committee members had no questions; the chair recorded the item as reviewed.
