Floyd County, VDOT outline multi‑mile overlays and weeks‑long debris cleanup after storm

At a meeting of the Floyd County Board of Supervisors, county transportation staff and VDOT representatives outlined a multi‑mile paving and surface‑treatment program and described a large, continuing debris‑cleanup effort tied to a recent ice storm and heavy rains.

County and VDOT speakers said overlays and surface treatments are already under way on several secondary routes and that crews will move between patching, pipe replacement and brush cleanup so the more complex overlay work can proceed. VDOT staff described scheduled work including roughly 4 miles of overlay on Daniels Run, about 2.5 miles each on White Rock Road and Connor Grove, “a little over a mile” on River Ridge, about 17 miles of surface treatment countywide, 2.5 miles on Starbuck, roughly one mile of milling on Smackling and more than a mile and a half on Buffalo Mountain Road.
