At the May 8 meeting, the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors approved a $1.50 per‑ton increase to the county waste gate fee — a 3% adjustment tied to the consumer price index — raising the county fee from $59 to $60.50 per ton.
The board also adopted the VDOT secondary roads six‑year plan for FY2026 through FY2031 and the FY2026 VDOT budget priorities. Staff said the county receives approximately $154,000 per year in telefee funds and between about $970,000 and just over $1 million per year in district revenue for road projects. Several previously prioritized projects (Rogue's Road completed and Whiting Road completed but not closed out) were noted; staff reported no changes to priorities overall but identified four roads to remain gravel rather than be converted to hard surface: Cabin Branch Road, Ebenezer Church Road, Wash Wright Road and Kaiser Road. Those roads will be improved and reconstructed but not hard‑surfaced under the adopted plan.
No members of the public spoke for either item. Both measures passed by voice vote 4-0.
