She referenced House Bill 2041, which was introduced this year and failed, saying the bill would have allowed local governments to create ordinances to deploy speed cameras in high‑risk areas; Russo asked whether Fauquier County planned to pursue local authority or other enforcement steps.
Supervisor Washer responded that the board would add speed‑camera authority to the county’s legislative agenda for next year and that staff would follow up with interested residents. Russo said enforcement, not necessarily changing the posted limit, was the goal: “we just wanna enforce the limit that’s there,” she said.
The board did not take formal action at the meeting; the topic was addressed in citizens’ comments and in supervisors’ announcements.
